Power Records PLANET OF THE APES Storybook

Here are two panels depicting the arrival of the astronauts and the crash of the Icarus.  The last panel is of Landon planting the flag in the soil by the water front.  The first thing that you will notice is that none of the astronauts have grown beards, they are still clean shaven.  Also, the animosity that seems to exist between Taylor and Landon in the movie fails to carry over to this version of the story.

You will also notice in this adaptation that Stewart is not part of the crew, that only three astronauts are listed as being the crew of the capsule.  Why the story was presented this way is unknown, perhaps because it was a children's book they didn't want to deal with a dead woman.   However, they do deal with Dodge getting shot and then Landon getting his frontal lobotomy, so you have to ask again... Why wasn't Stewart a part of this adaptation.   Strange...  You'll notice in this adaptation that the "Icarus" is merely a capsule, a multi-engine equipped space capsule in a very traditional style and sense.
