Alain Lafortune's

Icarus Artwork

Alain contacted via email and sent two of his images to be considered to inclusion on this site.  I complemented his artistry skill and explained that one image I would like to see would be the Icarus laying in state, resting on the bottom of the dead lake bed after she sunk.  Alain felt the call of the challenge and produced some incredible images of the Icarus as we've never seen her before.  He also awarded my site the "Silver Icarus Award" for excellence.   How I wish someone could actually produce this piece of art, it would be on my desk proudly displayed!  Enjoy!

Alain's original 'sunken Icarus' concept showing the ship as breaking up once it hit bottom.  I explained that I thought the ship would glide down gently to the bottom and settle there.  After showing him a picture of an old pirate ship sunken, he went back to the task and submitted the following pictures.  He explains that in some of the pictures, the illumination is from remote diving vehicles, used in the attempt to recover or salvage the Icarus at a later date.   Thanks, Alain!  Excellent work!
